Competitor roundup

Seems there is something happening in the smoothie market over here in Germany. Future will tell if we all might have some success with our brands.

Here are the competitors we have so far:
Fruchtbar - three guys from the south of munich
Grand Choice - two guys from munich
smoothieproject / true fruits - some students from Bonn
b2b smoothies - someone doing this in cooperation with a huge juice company

Any opionions on them? Tried on of their drinks? I only had a chance to try "Fruchtbar"...

I also have hear of two other people working on two brands. Let´s see what they come up with.

Discovered that b2b uses concentrated apple juice for example. Is this a smoothie anymore?

Hi Lars,
thanks for stopping by regularly...
Smoothie is nothing that is protected in any way. You can anything in a smoothie and call it a smoothie. There are huge brands in UK and USA who use concentrated stuff. That is much easier an cheaper.

In Germany there is a "Fruchtsaftverordnung". This law defines exactly what a "Fruchtsaft" is. You can call anything "Fruchtsaft" that contains of pure fruit. No matter if freshly squeezed or out of conentrate. German law does not know smoothies. That is why we are forced to write "Fruchtsaft" or "Mehrfruchtsaft" on our labels. That is only the case in Germany.

If you are in the supermarket take a closer look what is in the bottles. It is amazing to see that nearly everybody is using concetrate, even the companies where you think you get the best quality possible... (a lot of them also adds water!)

We only use fresh fruits nothing, that is what it makes a little more expensive.
